Project Description

The project aim was not to add more space but to make the existing spaces work better together.

The ‘plug-in’ extension allowed the reconfiguration of the house functions and circulation. But it also provided the family with a much needed bathroom, shower room and storage.

The house now operates much more efficiently and effectively for the family.

The extension is finished in concrete and stained black timber to reflect the clients tastes and to contrast with the existing house, while its pitched roof form reflects the existing butterfly roof and the typical London rear extension vernacular.
